What equipment will I need?

In most cases you need a business-grade internet connection, an appropriately sized network switch (ideally PoE-capable), and IP phones for each user. OHO Connect specifies and installs the equipment as part of your deployment.

Do I need a computer to use VoIP?

No. IP phones work independently. That said, softphone apps for desktop and mobile are included so you can also make and receive calls from your laptop or smartphone using your business number.

Yes. VoIP is designed to share your internet connection with normal business activity. Your network is configured with Quality of Service (QoS) so voice traffic is prioritized and call quality stays crisp.

A typical HD VoIP call uses about 100 Kbps in each direction. As a rule of thumb, budget ~100 Kbps per simultaneous call and confirm your circuit has headroom for concurrent business traffic. OHO will size this for your property during design.

With properly sized bandwidth, a modern router with QoS, and quality IP phones, VoIP call quality meets or exceeds traditional telephone service and is delivered in HD Voice.

What affects call quality and what causes issues?

Common factors are insufficient bandwidth, misconfigured QoS, poor Wi-Fi coverage for wireless handsets, aging switches, or issues with your internet carrier. OHO's monitoring platform actively watches for these and alerts our team.

What are my local telephone number options?

You can keep your existing numbers, add new local numbers in nearly any US market, add toll-free numbers, or mix and match — every user gets a direct dial (DID) plus an extension.

Yes. Number portability is standard. OHO manages the porting process from your current carrier so your numbers move over with minimal disruption.
